The quail is a small bird and can weigh from 150 grams to 200 grams. Its life span is 3 to 4 years.  And its eggs weigh 7 to 15 grams.  Quails breed very fast and become edible in 5 to 6 weeks and females of different breeds of Coturnix start laying eggs after 7 to 8 weeks and quail lay 300 to 350 eggs a year  ۔  The female quail lays 300 eggs in the first year of her life and 150 to 170 eggs in the second year.  Female quail lay more eggs in the light.  It lays its eggs mostly in the afternoon.  The ability to lay eggs decreases every year.  Quail eggs are very beautiful and small in size.  The eggs hatch in about 17 days. The new hatchlings weigh about 6 to 7 grams. The quail do not hatch their eggs (hatch from eggs) but hatch from eggs to hatch.  The machine has to be used.  And about 9 to 11 grams of eggs are best for hatching from a machine.  For best quail farming, keep one male quail of 5 females.  Quail babies are very sensitive and can withstand severe weather in about 2 weeks.

The quail is one of the smallest birds to be eaten. That is why it can be easily reared at home and on a commercial scale.  It does not require any special permission or license from the government.  Make a complete plan before raising quail. And then work according to that plan.  A complete plan includes breeding, food, safety measures, location, and business practices in the market.  Here I am giving some details for raising quail.

 Quail breed selection:

There are 50 species of quail in Pakistan alone but only a few of them are commonly seen.  And raising about 18 species of quail is very beneficial.  Among them, Japanese quail, Bobwhite quail (white quail), American quail are more famous.  The Bob White Quail is a native bird of eastern South America.  Japanese quail have been reared in Pakistan and India for many years.

 Location selection:

The most important step is to choose a place for quail to be reared on a domestic and commercial scale.  You can customize your quail cage or space by following the instructions below.

Quails can be raised in both litter and cages.  But cages are more beneficial because the cages are easier to clean.  Diseases and other problems are rarely encountered.

Choose a cage or a place (for quail rearing) that is airy and bright.  You can raise about 50 quails in a cage.  Its length is 120 cm, width is 60 cm and height is 25 cm.

Use mesh to make the cage.

For large quail, the netting should be about 5mm x 5mm.

Plastic cages are very suitable for quail rearing.

Quail breeding grounds or quail breeding cages should be kept away from wild animals and predators.

 Quail diet:

Quail must be well fed to keep them healthy and healthy.  A quail eats about 20 to 25 grams of food daily.  About 27% of quail cubs and about 22 to 24% of older quails need to be given protein in their diet.  The following is a balanced quota for quail.

Large or young quail 4 to 5 weeks 0 to 3 weeks Ingredients

 50 grams 48 grams wheat

 22 grams 22 grams 23 grams sesame

14 grams 16 grams 20 grams keeper fish

 9 grams 8 grams 6 grams bran

4.25 grams 3.25 grams 2.25 grams dog shell

 0.50 grams 0.50 grams 0.50 grams salt

 0.25 g 0.25 g 0.25 g mineral oil mix

 100 grams 100 grams 100 grams total

 Egg Production:

The female quail must have adequate lighting to produce the desired eggs.  You can also provide artificial light with bulbs and heaters.  You can use a 40 to the 100-watt bulb for this purpose.  The light and temperature required to depend on the weather.  If you want to breed the best breed and hatch from their eggs, keep 5 females with 1 male quail.  To get more eggs, choose a breed of quail that lays more eggs and keep their cages and areas where the quail are kept clean.  Egg production is based on the provision of heat, food, water, etc.  Light plays a very important role in obtaining the desired number of eggs from female quail.  Quails should be illuminated according to the schedule below.

Hours for lighting (temperature (age in degrees)

 24 35 First Week

 Raising Quail Chicks:

Quails never hatch their eggs.  You can place quail eggs under a hen to hatch or use a hatchery.  If you are using an egg-laying machine, the eggs hatch in 16 to 18 days.  Quail hatchlings should be placed in a brooder.  These quail babies need artificial temperature and light for 14 to 21 days from birth.  Quail babies are very sensitive.  They can be reared in areas with dirt and battery systems.  Here are some things to look for when selecting quail.

 Proper temperature

 Proper lighting

 Air passage

Provide food and water on time

 Clean environment

Keep the egg-laying female in light and temperature according to the schedule below.

 Quail Diseases:

Quails are less susceptible to diseases than other birds of prey.  But still, it is important to take proper care of them to prevent every disease and weakness.  Proper care and good management are essential for making a profit.  There is currently no specific vaccine for the disease on the market.  Quails cannot tolerate climate change or sudden temperature changes.  If they are exposed to climate change and temperature changes, they get sick.  In the meantime, be very careful and cautious.  The following quail diseases are very dangerous.

 Coccidiosis:

If quail are infected with insect bites, give them Coaxial 20 2 grams in a liter of water 3 times a day.  Otherwise, mix it in the diet as directed by the veterinarian.

 Ulcerative Enteritis:

If the quail suffers from irritable bowel syndrome (a specific disease in which the large intestine becomes swollen for unknown or unknown reasons), Streptomycin should be mixed with one liter of water and given 3 times a day.  This will eliminate the disease.

 Hygienic Quail Farming Tips:

Follow the tips below to make your quail healthier and more productive.

 Quail Marketing:

Quail meat and eggs are very tasty and rich in vitamins.  That is why quail meat and eggs are in great demand.  The quail is a small bird and its eggs are small in size so people can easily buy it.  You don't have to work hard to sell your quail and their eggs.  You can easily sell quail in your area.  But it would be great if you had a good plan for selling your quail.  Because the demand is not the same everywhere.

Quail rearing is an important source of daily vitamin-rich food and beneficial sources of income.  And commercial quail rearing can also be a way to reduce unemployment and you can earn a good income along with your job.  If you want to get into this business, you must first inspect a quail farm near you.  And then make your final decision.
